Bulawayo

Bulawayo Province is home to the city of Bulawayo, the second largest city in Zimbabwe and is also known as the City of Kings.  It is located in an area chosen by King Lobengula. Bulawayo has a humid sub-tropical climate even though it lies within the tropics. The weather in Bulawayo is always awesomely appealing to tourists. There are several cultural centres dotted around the city which reinforces Bulawayo as the cultural hub of Zimbabwe.

In addition it has friendly people who speak isiNdebele, Shona, Tonga, Setwsana, Sotho and Venda. Several world class hotels are located within the vicinity of the city in addition to a host of well-manicured lodges mainly located within the tranquil eastern Suburbs.
The city has 12 constituencies and 29 wards. It is governed by a Mayor who firstly has to be elected as a Councillor. It was predominantly an industrial hub during the colonial era.  YARD’s Provincial Commander for Bulawayo is Takunda Madzana. He is supported by a vibrant Provincial Command Team and executive structure that are young and energetic. Yard is well represented in all the constituencies and wards. YARD is geared to provide youthful leadership in the 2018 Harmonised Election. All YARDers in Bulawayo are exerting their energies towards creating a formidable force of young leaders. The youths in Bulawayo have a high level of political tolerance though they shun electoral and democratic processes. There are over 400 000 disenfranchised youths within this metropolitan jurisdiction and YARD is working round the clock to correct this anomaly. As YARD, we will be embarking on a serious voter education drive and young voters will be encouraged to actively participate in nation building activities. Through sport, art and culture YARD will bring youths to their area of convergence and empower them to be involved in democratic processes.
